New Holland 19415 – ECU or DCU: Empty Urea Tank - Fluid Level in the Tank is Too Low
Issue description
The system has detected that the fluid level in the urea (DEF) tank is too low, indicating that the tank may be empty or nearly empty. This condition affects the proper operation of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system and its ability to reduce NOx emissions. If the tank is physically full, this code indicates a fault within the DEF tank level sensing circuit.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- T6
- T7
- C345
- Compact Track Loaders
- Skid Steer Loaders
Check the cause
Visually inspect the actual fluid level in the DEF tank to confirm if it is empty or low
Check DEF quality using a refractometer to ensure proper urea concentration and lack of contamination
Inspect the dashboard for accompanying warning messages such as 'AdBlue quality low' or 'wrong fluid'
Examine the wiring harness and connectors leading to the DEF tank level sensor for damage, corrosion, or loose connections
Use a diagnostic tool to scan for related fault codes concerning NOx sensors or the DEF pump module
Repair steps
Refill DEF tank
If the tank is physically low, refill it with high-quality DEF conforming to the ISO 22241 standard.
Replace contaminated fluid
If the DEF is contaminated or of poor quality, drain the entire tank, dispose of the old fluid properly, and refill with fresh DEF.
Repair wiring and connectors
If damaged wires or corroded connectors are found, repair or replace them. Ensure all connections are clean and secure.
Replace DEF level sensor
If the tank is full of good fluid and wiring is intact, replace the DEF level sensor/sender unit. Gain access to the top of the DEF tank, disconnect the electrical connector and any fluid lines, unscrew and remove the sender unit from the tank, install the new sensor/sender unit ensuring a proper seal, and reconnect all electrical and fluid lines.
Clear codes and reset system
Use a diagnostic tool (like CNH EST or Iveco E.A.S.Y.) to clear fault codes. Perform any required system resets or relearn procedures, which may include resetting an engine restart counter.
