New Holland 2110 – TCM: Shuttle Lever Neutral Switch Voltage Too Low

Issue description

The control system has detected an abnormally low voltage signal from the shuttle lever when it is in the neutral position. The electronic control module expects a specific voltage range when the lever is in neutral, and this code is triggered when the signal drops below that predefined threshold. This suggests a potential issue with the shuttle lever's position sensor, the associated wiring, or the control module itself.

Applies to these machines

  • T7.220
  • T7.235
  • T7.250
  • T7.260
  • T7.270
  • TN Series
  • TL Series
  • TD Series
  • 2110
  • Farmall-A Series
  • Agriculture 75-110

Check the cause

  1. Ensure the battery voltage is stable and within the correct range (typically above 12.1V), as low system voltage can trigger erroneous fault codes

  2. Inspect the main ground strap to the chassis for cleanliness and tightness

  3. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the shuttle lever neutral switch (located on the steering column or transmission linkage) for any signs of damage, chafing, or loose connections

  4. Perform electrical resistance tests at the male plug of the shuttle lever in Neutral: pins 4 and 5 should be 0 Ω; pins 1 and 2 should be 2.7 - 2.8 kΩ; pins 1 and 3 should be 2.7 - 2.8 kΩ; pins 2 and 3 should be 5.4 kΩ

  5. Perform electrical resistance tests at the male plug in Forward: pins 4 and 6 should be approx 3.25 Ω; pins 2 and 3 should be 0 Ω

  6. Perform electrical resistance tests at the male plug in Reverse: pins 4 and 6 should be 0 Ω

  7. Check for an open circuit by disconnecting connector C075 and measuring resistance if the neutral switch test passes

Repair steps

  1. Confirm the fault

Use the diagnostic checks above to confirm that the switch itself is faulty and not the wiring.

  2. Locate the switch

Identify the shuttle lever neutral switch, typically found on the steering column or directly on the transmission housing near the shift linkages.

  3. Disconnect and remove

Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch. Remove any bolts or fasteners securing the switch to its mounting point.

  4. Install new switch

Mount the new switch and ensure it is properly aligned. On some models, the switch is adjustable via oval mounting slots to ensure it engages correctly when the lever is in neutral.

  5. Reconnect and test

Reconnect the electrical connector and clear the fault codes from the transmission controller. Start the tractor to verify that the issue is resolved and the tractor starts only in neutral.
