New Holland 3004 – Engine ECU: Accelerator Pedal Signal - NO SIGNAL
Issue description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) has lost all signal from the foot throttle sensor. This prevents the system from detecting the operator's throttle input, which can lead to the machine not responding to acceleration commands.
Applies to these machines
13 machines- T8 Series
- T4 Series
- T5 Series
- T6000 Series
- T7000 Series
- T4000 Series
- TM Series
- Farmall
- Workmaster
- L218
- L220
- SR175
- SV250
Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the accelerator pedal sensor and the Engine ECU for chafing, corrosion, or loose connections
Check for 12V power supply at the accelerator pedal connector with the key in the ON position (check fuse 46 as a starting point on some models)
Verify ground circuit continuity from the sensor connector back to the controller (should have very low resistance)
Perform a 5-volt reference test by back-probing the connector for a steady 5V supply at the reference wire terminal (missing voltage could indicate a short in a shared sensor circuit or an ECU issue)
Test the position potentiometer's signal wire while moving the pedal through its range of motion; voltage should sweep smoothly (e.g., 0.55V to 4.15V) without dropping to zero
Repair steps
Prepare machine
Park the machine on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn the engine off, and disconnect the battery before starting electrical work.
Access pedal assembly
Remove interior panels or shifter boots as necessary to gain access to the accelerator pedal assembly and its mounting bolts.
Disconnect wiring
Carefully disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the accelerator pedal sensor.
Remove old pedal
Unbolt the accelerator pedal assembly from the cab floor and remove it from the machine.
Install new pedal
Bolt the new accelerator pedal assembly into place. On some models, it may be easier to attach the bolts to the cable before securing the pedal to the floor.
Reconnect electrics
Securely connect the wiring harness to the new accelerator pedal sensor.
Reassemble and test
Reinstall any removed interior panels and reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position, clear any active fault codes using a diagnostic tool, start the engine, and verify correct throttle response. Some systems may require an idle relearn procedure after replacement.
