New Holland 3129 – ECU: Hand Throttle Idle Switch Closed Circuit

The Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected a persistent closed circuit signal from the hand throttle's idle validation switch. This indicates the ECM is receiving a signal that the throttle is at idle even when it may be in a different position. This electrical anomaly is typically caused by a short circuit in the wiring, a failed switch within the throttle assembly, or a faulty potentiometer.

   Access the switch test mode (often designated as H5) in the diagnostic 'H' routines. Operate the hand throttle and verify if the status of the 'Hand throttle idle switch' (d16) and 'Hand throttle Not at idle switch' (d17) changes when moved off idle.

   Check for mechanical issues by ensuring the throttle lever moves freely through its full range of motion without binding or sticking.

   Disconnect power

   Disconnect the battery before beginning any electrical repairs to ensure safety.

   Access throttle assembly

   Remove the necessary side panels or covers to gain access to the hand throttle lever, its associated sensors, and wiring.
