New Holland ARMRE 1029 – Armrest Controller: Aux 5th remote valve control switch is failed.
Issue description
The controller has detected an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short circuit, or out-of-range voltage) or a mechanical failure (stuck button/lever) in the switch that commands the 5th auxiliary hydraulic remote valve to extend or retract.

Check the cause
Check battery voltage: Verify that the tractor's battery voltage is within normal operating range (above 12V resting, ~14V running). Low voltage can cause phantom ARM fault codes.
Physical switch inspection: Inspect the 5th remote fingertip switch/paddle on the armrest. Check if it is physically stuck in the 'Extend' or 'Retract' position due to dirt, debris, or a broken internal return spring.
Harness and connector check: Open the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness leading to the 5th remote switch. Look for chafed wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion.
Continuity/resistance test: Unplug the switch and use a multimeter to test the switch's output in the neutral, extend, and retract positions to verify if the internal potentiometer or contacts have failed.
Clear and retest: Clear the fault code using the tractor's display monitor. Cycle the key and actuate the switch to see if the code returns immediately as an active fault.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent short circuits while working on the armrest electronics.
Access the Armrest Internals
Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the top cover/trim bezel of the electronic armrest console to expose the switch modules.
Disconnect the Switch
Locate the specific switch for the 5th auxiliary remote. Carefully depress the locking tab and unplug the electrical connector from the bottom of the switch.
Remove the Faulty Switch
Depending on the exact armrest generation, the switch will either be held in by plastic retaining clips (which can be squeezed to push the switch up and out) or small Torx/Phillips screws. Remove the switch from the panel.
Install the New Switch
Seat the replacement switch into the armrest bezel until it clicks into place or secure it with the retaining screws.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back into the new switch, ensuring the locking tab engages.
Reassemble
Carefully reinstall the armrest cover and tighten all trim screws. Ensure no wires are pinched during reassembly.
Test Operation
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear any stored fault codes. Actuate the 5th remote valve to ensure proper extend/retract operation and verify that ARM 1029 does not return.
Parts you might need
(2)Electronic Armrest EDC Control unit
87399131For older models (like the T7000 series), the switches are integrated into a larger electronic control board, requiring the replacement of the Electronic Armrest EDC Control unit.
Auxiliary Remote Valve Control Switch / Fingertip Spool Switch
For newer T8/T9 and TG series. You MUST look up the exact part number using the CNH parts catalog tied to the tractor's specific serial number and remote valve configuration.
