New Holland ARMRE 1079 – ARM (Arm Rest Module): Invalid Configuration -- Diff lock switch is failed

The controller is receiving an illogical signal, an out-of-range voltage, an open circuit, or a short to ground from the differential lock rocker switch located on the operator's armrest console.

   Listen for relay actuation by toggling the diff lock switch manually; a lack of clicking indicates the circuit is not completing.

   Inspect the harness and pins at the back of the armrest controller and the switch for damaged, bent, corroded, or dislocated pins.

   Check for related communication codes (e.g., TCU to Armrest controller) that might mimic a switch failure.

   Test the switch for continuity using a multimeter in its different positions (Auto, Neutral/Off, Manual ON) to rule out an internal short to ground or an open circuit.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the armrest module.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the retaining screws on the armrest console covers to expose the underside of the switch panel.

   Disconnect the Switch

   Carefully unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the back of the Diff Lock switch.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the rocker switch body and push it upward/outward through the top of the armrest bezel.

   Install the New Switch

   Snap the new OEM differential lock switch into the armrest bezel until the tabs lock it into place.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back into the switch, ensuring it seats firmly. Reinstall the armrest console covers and screws.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the stored fault codes. Start the tractor and toggle the diff lock switch to ensure the dash symbol illuminates and the fault code does not return.
