New Holland ARMRE 109 – Armrest Controller: Aux 3rd remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed

The electronic signal from the rotary dial (potentiometer) used to adjust the hydraulic flow rate for the 3rd auxiliary remote valve is out of range, open, or short-circuited. Because the controller cannot read the physical position of the dial, it cannot regulate the hydraulic flow across the spool metering lands for that specific remote.

   Inspect the Armrest Harness at the back of the armrest for pinched wires, rubbed-through insulation, or damage near the P-clamp.

   Test the Potentiometer by swapping its electrical connection with an adjacent one (e.g., 2nd or 4th remote). If the fault code changes to match the new position, the potentiometer is dead. If it remains ARM 109, the issue is in the wiring harness or Armrest Controller.

   Check Controller Voltage/Grounds to ensure the Armrest Controller is receiving proper voltage and has no bad grounds.

   Power off and disconnect battery

   Power off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent shorting the Armrest Controller.

   Remove cover plate

   Remove the right-hand console/armrest cover plate to access the electronic draft and remote control section.

   Locate potentiometer

   Locate the flow control potentiometer for the 3rd remote valve.

   Remove control knob

   Pull the colored control knob straight off the potentiometer shaft.

   Remove retaining nut

   Remove the retaining nut (typically a 3/8-32 nut) that secures the potentiometer to the armrest mounting plate.

   Disconnect wiring

   Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the back of the failed potentiometer.

   Install new potentiometer

   Plug the harness into the new potentiometer, insert it through the mounting plate, and secure it with the retaining nut.

   Reinstall control knob

   Push the control knob back onto the shaft.

   Reinstall cover plate

   Reinstall the armrest cover plate.

    Reconnect battery and test

    Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and clear the stored fault codes. Test the 3rd remote valve to ensure flow adjustment is working properly.
