New Holland ARMRE 1149 – ARM (Armrest Module / Armrest Control Unit): Auto Field / Transport Switch is in an illogical state

The controller is receiving conflicting, missing, or impossible signals from the Auto Field / Auto Transport switch. This typically means the system is reading both 'Field' and 'Transport' modes as being engaged simultaneously, or neither is registering when one is expected. This is usually caused by an internal short/failure within the switch itself, or a short/open circuit in the wiring harness connecting the switch to the controller.

   Inspect the physical condition of the Auto Field / Transport switch for sticking, jamming, or damage

   Enter the tractor's H-Menu (H9 menu) to monitor the live state of the switches via CAN inputs (channels d196 and d197)

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the switch, the ICP, and the Armrest Control Unit (ACU) for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins

   Unplug the switch and use a multimeter to test it for continuity in all positions to ensure it is not internally shorted or completely open

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully remove the trim or paneling around the Instrument Cluster Panel (ICP) or the right-hand armrest console to gain access to the back of the switch assembly.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from the Auto Field / Transport switch.

   Replace or Repair

   If the switch failed the continuity test (most common), remove the retaining clips/screws and pop the old switch out of the bezel. Install the new replacement switch. If the switch tested good, locate and repair the short or open circuit in the wiring harness leading back to the Armrest controller.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the switch, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place. Reinstall the console trim and paneling.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on, clear the stored ARM 1149 fault code via the diagnostic menu, and test the operation of both the Auto Field and Auto Transport modes to ensure the code does not return.
