New Holland ARMRE 12081 – ARM (Armrest Controller / Arm Rest Module): Loss of/unavailable Performance Monitor Display - RECORD/PLAY functionality disabled
Issue description
The controller has lost CAN bus communication with the Performance Monitor Display, disabling the ability to record or play back automated headland turn sequences.

Check the cause
Check the CAN bus communication data link between the Armrest Controller and the Performance Monitor Display (often located on the A-pillar).
Inspect CAN bus terminators for broken solder joints where the pins from the plug solder to the board (especially on older TG series tractors).
Check wiring harnesses and connectors between the Armrest Controller, cab harness, and Performance Monitor for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires.
Verify the Armrest Controller software is up to date and properly calibrated to recognize the Performance Monitor.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Inspect and Repair Wiring
Access the Armrest Controller and the Performance Monitor Display. Disconnect the harnesses and inspect the pins. Clean with contact cleaner and reconnect securely.
Replace Faulty Terminators (If Applicable)
If diagnosing an older TG tractor with active CAN terminators, check them for broken solder joints. Replace with the superseded simpler, cheaper plug containing two resistors to terminate the CAN bus if faulty.
Recalibrate
Reconnect the battery. Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to clear the fault codes. Recalibrate the Armrest Controller and verify that the Performance Monitor Display is communicating.
Component Replacement
If communication cannot be restored and wiring/terminators test good, the fault lies internally. Send out the Performance Monitor Display or Armrest Controller for membrane/LCD repair, or replace them entirely.
Parts you might need
(4)Armrest Controller
399285A1Common on TG/MX series. Requires dealer programming/calibration upon installation.
Armrest Controller (Remanufactured)
84165726RRequires dealer programming/calibration upon installation.
Performance Monitor Display (PMU)
86990265Common on TJ/TG series. Often repairable by specialized agricultural electronics repair shops (e.g., LCD replacement or membrane keypad repair).
CAN Bus Terminator Plug
Generic part name; superseded resistor-style plug used to replace older active terminators on TG series.
