New Holland ARMRE 129 – Armrest Controller: Aux 5th remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed

The armrest controller is detecting an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the rotary dial (potentiometer) used by the operator to set the hydraulic flow rate for the 5th auxiliary rear remote valve. This is typically caused by an internal failure of the potentiometer (open or short circuit) or a wiring harness issue inside the armrest.

   Open the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness and connector at the 5th remote flow control knob for loose pins, chafed wires, or corrosion (wiring issue cause).

   Swap the electrical connector of the 5th remote flow potentiometer with an adjacent, known-good potentiometer (such as the 4th remote). If the fault code shifts to the 4th remote, the potentiometer itself is definitively dead (component failure cause). If the code remains on the 5th remote, the issue is in the wiring harness or the armrest controller itself.

   Verify that the armrest controller is supplying the correct reference voltage to the potentiometer circuit (a loss of 5V reference can cause sensor failures).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest console.

   Access the Controls

   Remove the retaining screws securing the armrest console cover/bezel. Carefully lift the bezel to access the underside of the electronic draft and remote valve controls.

   Disconnect

   Locate the 5th remote valve flow potentiometer. Unplug its electrical wiring connector.

   Remove the Potentiometer

   Pull the plastic control knob off the top of the potentiometer shaft. Remove the retaining nut (typically a 3/8-32 nut) that secures the potentiometer to the console housing.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the new potentiometer through the housing, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the control knob back onto the shaft.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the electrical harness and carefully reinstall the armrest console cover, ensuring no wires are pinched.

   Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery and power on the tractor. Clear the inactive fault codes via the in-cab monitor (e.g., IntelliView). You may need to perform a remote valve calibration procedure through the monitor to ensure the armrest controller recognizes the full sweep of the new potentiometer.
