   Inspect the hitch drop rate knob on the right-hand armrest for physical damage, binding, or looseness.

   Check the wiring harness beneath the armrest cover for a steady 5V reference voltage and a good ground at the potentiometer connector.

   Back-probe the signal wire going to the Armrest Controller. As you turn the drop rate knob, the voltage should sweep smoothly without dropping out or spiking. Erratic jumps or constant 0V/5V indicate internal potentiometer failure.

   Check for open circuits or shorts to ground in the wiring harness between the potentiometer and the Armrest Controller module.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Console

   Remove the retaining screws holding the right-hand armrest console cover/plate in place.

   Remove the Knob

   Carefully pull the plastic knob off the hitch drop rate potentiometer.

   Extract the Potentiometer

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the potentiometer. Remove the retaining nut (typically a 3/8-32 nut) securing the potentiometer to the console plate, and pull the component out.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the new potentiometer into the console plate, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the knob back onto the shaft.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the armrest console cover.

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery. You must perform an armrest/hitch calibration procedure via the instrument cluster (A-post display) so the Armrest Controller can learn the minimum and maximum voltage values of the new potentiometer.
