This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, or a complete internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the hand throttle potentiometer, specifically looking for a broken wire 1-2 inches below the connector plug.

   Check the connector plug for loose, backed-out, or corroded pins that could cause a voltage drop.

   Verify the armrest controller is supplying the correct 5V reference voltage and a solid ground to the potentiometer using a multimeter.

   Perform a sweep test by measuring the signal wire voltage while slowly moving the hand throttle from idle to full-throttle to ensure voltage scales smoothly without dropping out.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the armrest modules.

   Access the Throttle Assembly

   Remove the necessary trim panels on the SideWinder / armrest console to expose the hand throttle mechanism and its wiring.

   Repair Wiring

   If a broken wire is found near the plug, repair it using an appropriate butt connector or solder and heat-shrink tubing.

   Replace the Potentiometer/Throttle

   If the wiring is intact but the sensor failed the sweep test, unbolt the hand throttle assembly and replace the faulty 2500 Ohm potentiometer (or the entire electronic throttle unit, depending on the exact model's parts breakdown).

   Reassemble

   Secure the new throttle assembly and plug in the connector. Reinstall the armrest trim panels.

   Recalibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Because a new sensor has been introduced (or a voltage drop was recorded), you must perform a throttle calibration using the tractor's IntelliView display or a dealer diagnostic tool. This allows the controller to "relearn" the exact voltage values for the closed and full-throttle positions.
