New Holland ARMRE 18002 – Armrest Controller (ARMRE): Hand throttle #1 -voltage too high (New Holland Only)

The electronic control module is receiving a voltage signal from the primary hand throttle position sensor (potentiometer) that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This typically means the sensor's signal wire is shorted to a power source, the sensor has an open ground circuit, or the potentiometer has failed internally.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the hand throttle potentiometer through the armrest console for pinched wires, chafing, or exposed copper that could be shorting the signal wire to a 12V or 5V power source

   Check the ground circuit using a multimeter to verify that the potentiometer is receiving a solid ground (a broken or corroded ground wire will cause the sensor's return signal to default to high voltage)

   Test the potentiometer by disconnecting the sensor and testing the resistance sweep with a multimeter; resistance should change smoothly and linearly without dead spots or infinite resistance

   Inspect the 3-pin connector at the throttle sensor for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out pins

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove the retaining screws and plastic covers on the armrest console to expose the internal hand throttle lever mechanism.

   Disconnect the Sensor

   Locate the hand throttle potentiometer (usually mounted directly to the pivot point of the throttle lever) and unplug its electrical connector.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Remove the mounting screws or circlips holding the potentiometer to the throttle lever assembly and slide the sensor off the shaft.

   Install the New Sensor

   Slide the replacement potentiometer onto the throttle shaft, ensuring the mechanical alignment pins or tabs sit correctly in the lever housing. Secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back in and reinstall the armrest console covers.

   Recalibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. You must perform a throttle calibration procedure via the tractor's instrument cluster or diagnostic menu so the Armrest controller can learn the new minimum and maximum voltage limits of the replacement sensor.
