New Holland ARMRE 18005 – ARMRE (Armrest Controller): Engine droop control - voltage too low

The controller is seeing a signal voltage from the engine droop control potentiometer that has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold, indicating an open circuit, a short to ground, or a complete internal failure of the potentiometer.

   Live Data Check: Enter the tractor's diagnostic mode (often the 'H9' Voltmeter/Diagnostics menu on the display) to view the live reading of the droop control potentiometer. If it reads a flat zero, you likely have a hard short or open circuit.

   Visual Inspection: Lift the armrest console cover and inspect the wiring harness leading to the droop control dial. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or a loose connector.

   Voltage & Ground Test: Disconnect the potentiometer. Using a multimeter, verify that the connector is receiving the proper reference voltage (usually 5V) from the armrest controller and has a solid ground.

   Component Test: Test the potentiometer itself. The OEM specification for this component is a 1000 Ohm potentiometer. If the resistance does not sweep smoothly or reads open/infinite, the dial is faulty.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and engage the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Armrest Internals

   Remove the retaining screws holding the top cover/bezel of the SideWinder armrest console. Carefully lift the panel to expose the underside of the controls.

   Remove the Faulty Dial

   Locate the Engine Droop Control potentiometer. Disconnect its electrical harness.

   Dismount

   Remove the retaining nut or clips securing the potentiometer to the console plastic and pull the unit out.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the replacement potentiometer (OEM Part # 84213269) into the armrest panel and secure it with the retaining hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back into the new potentiometer.

   Reassemble

   Carefully lower the armrest cover back into place, ensuring no wires are pinched, and reinstall the screws.

   Clear and Verify

   Turn the battery power back on, start the tractor, and clear the ARMRE 18005 fault code. Rotate the droop control dial while monitoring the dash/IntelliView screen to ensure the engine RPM limits adjust correctly without throwing a new code.
