New Holland ARMRE 18006 – Armrest Controller (ARMRE): Engine droop control - voltage too high
Issue description
This code indicates that the signal voltage from the Engine Droop Control potentiometer is exceeding the maximum expected threshold. A "voltage too high" condition typically means the signal wire is shorted to a power source (like a 5V reference or 12V supply) or the potentiometer has lost its ground connection, causing the voltage to pull high.

Check the cause
Access the H9 Menu (Switch & Sensor Test Functions) via the instrument cluster to check live operation and voltage supplies of the armrest potentiometers
Check for continuity between the potentiometer's ground pin and the Armrest controller ground (lost ground is the most common cause)
Measure the resistance across the potentiometer terminals to verify it reads 1000 Ohms (1kΩ) and is not internally open or shorted
Inspect the wiring harness inside the armrest for chafing, pinched wires, or connector corrosion bridging the signal wire to a voltage supply
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during module disconnection.
Access the Armrest
Carefully remove the outer covers of the armrest console to expose the internal wiring and the back of the operator control dials.
Inspect the Connector
Locate the Engine Droop Control potentiometer. Disconnect its wiring harness and inspect the pins for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out terminals.
Test the Circuit
Turn the key to the ON position (engine off). Using a multimeter, verify that the reference voltage is correct (usually 5V) and that the ground wire has a solid path to ground. If the ground is open, trace the harness back to the Armrest controller to repair the broken wire.
Replace the Potentiometer
If the wiring is intact but the potentiometer fails the 1000 Ohm resistance test or has internal dead spots, remove the retaining nut/clips holding the dial in place and install a new potentiometer.
Reassembly and Clearing
Reconnect the harness, reassemble the armrest, and reconnect the battery.
Calibration/Verification
Turn the tractor on and navigate back to the H9 Switch & Sensor Test menu to verify the new potentiometer sweeps smoothly through its voltage range without spiking. Clear the ARMRE 18006 fault code.
