New Holland ARMRE 18010 – Armrest Controller: Powershift throttle - voltage too low

The voltage signal returning from the powershift hand throttle (propulsion lever) potentiometer is below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit in the 5V reference wire, a short to ground in the signal wire, or a complete internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Enter the tractor's diagnostic mode (e.g., H MENU SWITCH & SENSOR TEST FUNCTIONS - H9) to monitor the live voltage supply and return signal of the armrest potentiometers.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the powershift throttle to the Armrest Controller for pinched wires inside the armrest pivot points, backed-out pins, or corrosion in the connector.

   Disconnect the potentiometer and use a multimeter to verify that the controller is sending a 5V reference signal and a good ground to the connector.

   Check the signal wire for continuity back to the Armrest Controller and ensure it is not shorted to ground (which triggers the voltage too low condition).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes to the Armrest Controller.

   Disassemble the Armrest

   Remove the retaining screws on the side/bottom of the armrest console to lift the upper trim and access the internal control mechanisms.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the powershift throttle lever mechanism. The potentiometer is mounted directly to the pivot shaft of this lever.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Unplug the electrical connector from the potentiometer. Remove the mounting screws or retaining clips holding the sensor to the lever assembly.

   Install the New Sensor

   Slide the new potentiometer onto the shaft, ensuring the internal tang aligns correctly with the flat spot or slot on the lever shaft. Secure it with the mounting screws.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness and reassemble the armrest console plastics.

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the tractor's electronic service tool (EST) or the in-cab calibration menu to perform a throttle/lever calibration. This teaches the Armrest Controller the new minimum and maximum voltage values for the full sweep of the new potentiometer.
