ARMRE 18015

New Holland ARMRE 18015 – Armrest Module (ARU - Arm Rest Unit / ATC - Armrest Tractor Controller): Rear hitch position control potentiometer - voltage too high

Issue description

The control module is receiving a signal voltage from the rear hitch position control potentiometer that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to power (5V or 12V) on the signal circuit, an open ground circuit on the potentiometer, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T7 Series
  • New Holland T8 Series (e.g., T8.275 - T8.440)
  • New Holland TG Series (e.g., TG210, TG285)
  • New Holland TM Series (e.g., TM190)
  • New Holland T6000 Series (T6010 through T6070)

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear hitch position control potentiometer for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or disconnected plugs

  2. Disconnect the potentiometer and check the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals

  3. Test the ground wire at the potentiometer connector for an open circuit (an open ground will cause the signal voltage to pull high, triggering the code)

  4. Check the signal wire for a short to the 5V reference or 12V power supply

  5. If the wiring harness tests good (intact ground, no shorts to power), test the potentiometer for internal failure

Repair steps

  1. Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery ground if working near sensitive armrest electronics.

  2. Disassemble the armrest control console (EHR panel) to access the underside of the hitch control levers/dials.

  3. Locate the rear hitch position control potentiometer and unplug its electrical connector.

  4. Remove the retaining hardware securing the potentiometer to the hitch control lever assembly.

  5. Install the replacement potentiometer and secure it in place.

  6. Reconnect the electrical harness and reassemble the armrest console.

  7. Power on the tractor and clear the stored fault codes.

  8. Enter the tractor's H1 Calibration Menu (or use the electronic service tool) to perform the Electronic Hydraulic Remote / Rear Hitch calibration procedure, ensuring the new potentiometer's sweep is learned by the Armrest controller.
