New Holland ARMRE 18018 – Armrest Control Module: Rear hitch height limit potentiometer - voltage too low

The electronic control system is receiving a signal voltage from the rear hitch height limit dial/potentiometer that has fallen below the minimum acceptable threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, or an internal failure (dead spot or broken track) within the 5V resistance-based potentiometer itself.

   Use the tractor's onboard 'H MENU' (specifically menu H9) to check the operation of various armrest potentiometers and their 5V voltage supplies

   Verify that the potentiometer is receiving its 5V reference voltage from the Armrest Control Module (a broader 5V supply failure will often trigger multiple codes simultaneously)

   Inspect the 3-pin electrical connector at the potentiometer for pushed pins, corrosion, or loose connections, and trace the wiring harness down the armrest to check for chafing or a short to ground

   Measure the resistance sweep of the potentiometer with a multimeter while turning the height limit dial. If the resistance drops out to zero or goes infinite at any point, the potentiometer has an internal failure

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor key switch and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes to the Armrest Control Module.

   Access the Armrest Console

   Remove the retaining screws holding the upper cover/panel of the right-hand armrest console to expose the electronic control boards and potentiometers.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Locate the specific potentiometer linked to the rear hitch height limit dial. Disconnect its 3-pin electrical connector.

   Dismount the Potentiometer

   Remove the retaining nut or mounting bracket screws securing the potentiometer to the dial assembly.

   Install the New Part

   Seat the new OEM potentiometer into the dial housing, secure the retaining hardware, and plug in the 3-pin connector.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the armrest cover panels and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   Power on the tractor. Perform a rear hitch calibration via the tractor's display monitor to allow the Armrest Control Module to learn the minimum and maximum voltage values of the new potentiometer.
