Issue description
This code indicates that the signal voltage returning from the rear hitch height limit control knob (potentiometer) to the controller has exceeded the maximum expected threshold (typically above 4.5V on a 5V reference circuit). This condition is usually caused by an open ground circuit on the potentiometer wiring, a short to power (5V or 12V) on the signal wire, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Inspect the armrest control console for physical damage, heavy dust, or liquid intrusion (spilled drinks on the armrest are a very common cause of potentiometer failure).
Check Shared Circuits: Check if other armrest fault codes are present (e.g., 18021 for drop rate, 18023 for sensitivity). If multiple 'voltage too high' codes appear simultaneously, you likely have a shared open ground wire in the armrest harness rather than a single failed potentiometer.
Wiring & Connector Check: Access the underside of the armrest panel. Inspect the connector at the potentiometer (often designated in schematics as R-025 or X850/X864) for loose pins, corrosion, or wire chafing.
Multimeter Testing: Verify the 5V reference voltage is present at the connector. Verify continuity to ground on the ground pin. Back-probe the signal wire. As you turn the height limit knob, the voltage should smoothly sweep (e.g., 0.5V to 4.5V). If it is stuck at 5V regardless of knob position, and the ground is intact, the potentiometer is internally shorted/failed.

Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Disassemble the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws holding the top cover/trim of the SideWinder II or classic armrest console to expose the EHR (Electronic Hitch Control) pod and wiring.
Remove the Component
Locate the rear hitch height limit potentiometer. Disconnect its electrical harness. Remove the retaining nut or mounting screws securing it to the plastic bezel, and pull the knob/potentiometer assembly out. (Note: On some newer SideWinder II armrests, the EHR potentiometers are soldered into a single printed circuit board cluster. If this is the case, the entire EHR sub-module must be removed).
Install the New Part
Seat the new potentiometer (or module) into the console, secure the retaining hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble
Carefully route the wiring harness so it won't be pinched, and reinstall the armrest covers.
Reconnect Power & Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the tractor's diagnostic menu (IntelliView monitor or H-Menu) to clear the stored ARMRE 18019 fault code.
Calibrate
You must perform the hitch/armrest calibration procedure. The Armrest Controller needs to learn the new minimum and maximum voltage sweeps of the replacement potentiometer to function correctly. (If the height limit control is not turned fully clockwise to the maximum height position during calibration, an Error Code 'HL' may be displayed).
