New Holland ARMRE 18023 – Armrest Module (ARU / ARMRE): Rear hitch sensitivity control potentiometer - voltage too high

This code indicates that the signal voltage coming from the rear hitch sensitivity control dial (potentiometer) has exceeded the maximum expected threshold (typically >4.5V or 5V). This is almost always caused by a short to a power source, an open ground circuit on the sensor wiring, or an internal failure (open circuit) within the potentiometer itself.

   Enter the tractor's H Menu (menu H9) to monitor the live voltage of the rear hitch sensitivity dial to see if it is stuck at maximum voltage or spiking

   Remove the armrest cover and visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the potentiometer for pinched wires, rubbed insulation, or loose connector pins

   Using a multimeter, check the ground wire at the potentiometer connector (an open ground will cause the sensor signal to pull high)

   Check the signal wire for continuity to the 5V reference or 12V power wires to test for a short

   Unplug the potentiometer and measure its resistance sweep with a multimeter to check for an internal open circuit or dead spots

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Armrest

   Carefully remove the retaining screws on the armrest control console (ICP) to access the underside of the control panel.

   Locate the rear hitch sensitivity control potentiometer and unplug its 3-pin electrical connector.
