New Holland ARMRE 18025 – Armrest Module (ARMRE / ARU): Rear hitch slip control potentiometer - voltage too low

The slip control potentiometer is a dial/knob used by the operator to set the desired wheel slip percentage for the rear hitch draft control system. A "voltage too low" condition indicates that the signal voltage returning from this potentiometer to the controller has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This is typically caused by a faulty potentiometer, a short to ground in the wiring harness, or a disconnected plug.

   Access the tractor's H9 diagnostic menu (Switch & Sensor Test Functions) and navigate to Channel 33, which monitors the slip control potentiometer.

   Perform a sweep test by turning the slip control knob fully clockwise, and then fully counter-clockwise.

   Verify the values displayed on the screen range between 84 and 14.

   Perform a wiggle test by moving the wiring harness and connectors near the potentiometer while monitoring H9 Channel 33. If values jump or drop out, there is an intermittent circuit/wiring issue.

   Inspect Wiring

   Based on the diagnostic test, inspect the wiring harness leading to the slip control potentiometer inside the armrest console. Look for chafed wires shorting to a ground source or corroded connector pins.

   Repair Harness

   If a wiring fault is found during the wiggle test, repair the damaged section of the harness or replace the connector.

   Replace Potentiometer

   If the wiring is intact but the H9 Channel 33 values are out of the 84-14 range (or stuck low), the potentiometer itself has failed internally.

   Disassembly

   Remove the necessary trim panels on the armrest console to access the underside of the slip control knob.

   Swap Part

   Unplug the faulty potentiometer, remove its retaining nut/clip, and install the new potentiometer.

   Clear and Verify

   Turn the tractor on, clear the stored ARMRE 18025 fault code, and re-test the system for normal operation to ensure the code does not return.
