New Holland ARMRE 18033 – Armrest Module (ARU / ARMRE): Front hitch position / pressure mix potentiometer - voltage too high
Issue description
The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the front hitch control dial (potentiometer) that exceeds the maximum expected threshold (typically near 5 volts). This condition is usually caused by a short to power in the signal wire, an open ground circuit to the potentiometer, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself where the resistor track has broken.

Check the cause
Open the armrest console and visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the front hitch position potentiometer for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected pins.
Disconnect the potentiometer and use a multimeter to verify the connector is receiving a steady 5V reference signal and has a solid ground (diagnosing an open ground circuit).
Test the signal wire for a short to voltage. If the signal wire is shorted to a 12V source or the 5V reference, the module will read the voltage as too high.
Measure the resistance sweep of the potentiometer itself while turning the dial. If the resistance jumps erratically or shows an open circuit (infinite resistance), the potentiometer has failed internally.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working inside the armrest console.
Access the Armrest Internals
Remove the retaining screws on the underside or perimeter of the armrest control unit to lift the top cover plate.
Remove the Faulty Potentiometer
Locate the front hitch position/pressure mix dial. Disconnect its electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut or mounting clips holding the potentiometer to the console housing and pull the switch out.
Install the New Part
Insert the replacement potentiometer, secure it with the retaining hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.
Reassemble
Carefully lower the armrest cover back into place, ensuring no wires are pinched, and reinstall the screws. Reconnect the battery.
Calibration
Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu (often accessed via the H9 menu on the A-post display or through the IntelliView/Pro700 monitor) and perform the armrest lever/dial calibration procedure.
