New Holland ARMRE 18036 – Armrest Module (ARU / ARMRE): Front hitch position height limit potentiometer - voltage too low.

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the front hitch height limit dial (potentiometer) that has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground in the signal wire, a loss of the 5-volt reference supply to the sensor, an open circuit, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Disassemble the armrest console to access the EHR potentiometers and visually inspect the wiring harness and connector for the front hitch height limit dial for pinched wires, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Disconnect the potentiometer, turn the key ON, and use a multimeter to verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground connection.

   Test the signal wire between the potentiometer connector and the Armrest Module for continuity, ensuring the signal wire is not shorted to ground.

   Use the tractor's onboard H-Menu (H9 menu) to monitor the live voltage sweep of the potentiometer. If the wiring tests good but the H9 menu shows no voltage change when turning the dial, the potentiometer has failed internally.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage.

   Access the Armrest

   Remove the retaining screws on the right-hand armrest control console to lift the top panel and access the underside of the EHR control knobs.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Locate the front hitch position height limit potentiometer. Disconnect its electrical plug.

   Dismount the Potentiometer

   Remove the retaining nut (usually a 3/8-32 nut) or mounting screws securing the potentiometer to the console housing. Pull the potentiometer out and pull off the plastic operator knob.

   Install the New Part

   Push the operator knob onto the new potentiometer. Seat the new unit into the armrest panel and tighten the retaining nut.

   Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new potentiometer. Carefully lower the armrest panel back into place, ensuring no wires are pinched, and reinstall the console screws.

   Calibrate

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key ON and enter the tractor's calibration menu to calibrate the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum limits so the Armrest Module learns the new sensor's voltage sweep.
