ARMRE 18037

New Holland ARMRE 18037 – ARMRE: Front hitch height limit enable switch error.

Issue description

This code indicates an electrical fault—such as an open circuit, short to ground, short to power, or an implausible signal—originating from the switch that controls the height limit enablement for the front hitch (Electronic Draft Control / EDC system).

Check the cause

  1. Enter the instrument cluster's diagnostic mode and navigate to the H9 Menu (Switch & Sensor Test Functions).

  2. Monitor channel d92 (Front hitch height limit enable switch). Toggle the switch on the armrest and observe the display. If the state does not change, the switch or its circuit is dead.

  3. Lift the armrest console cover and inspect the wiring harness leading to the EDC control panel. Look for pinched wires, broken solder joints, or loose connector pins.

  4. Ensure the armrest module is communicating properly with the Central Control Unit (CCU). If multiple armrest codes are present, check the CAN bus terminators inside the armrest.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent short circuits.

  2. Access the Armrest Panel

Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim pieces on the SideWinder II armrest to expose the EDC (Electronic Draft Control) sub-panel where the hitch controls are located.

  3. Disconnect Harness

Unplug the multi-pin electrical connector from the bottom of the front hitch control panel.

  4. Remove the Switch/Panel

On most modern New Holland armrests, the front hitch height limit switch is integrated directly into the EDC printed circuit board/panel assembly. Remove the retaining screws (usually M2.5 or M3.5 Phillips head screws) and lift the faulty panel out.

  5. Install the Replacement

Seat the new EDC panel or switch assembly into the armrest and secure it with the retaining screws.

  6. Reassemble and Power Up

Reconnect the wiring harness, snap the armrest trim back into place, and reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear Codes

Turn the key to the ON position. Use the H8 Menu (Clear stored calibration information/EEPROM) or the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the inactive ARMRE 18037 fault code.

  8. Function Test

Test the front hitch raise/lower and height limit functions to verify the repair.
