New Holland ARMRE 18040 – Armrest Module (ARMRE): EHR 1 lever position - voltage too low

This fault code indicates that the signal voltage from the Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote (EHR) 1 lever position sensor (potentiometer) has dropped below the acceptable minimum threshold. This typically points to an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor wiring, or a complete internal failure of the EHR 1 lever potentiometer located in the armrest.

   Inspect the EHR 1 lever on the armrest for physical damage, binding, or debris that might prevent smooth operation.

   Attempt to recalibrate the armrest controller and EHR levers through the A-post or IntelliView display before replacing parts.

   Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness connecting the EHR 1 lever to the armrest module for pinched wires, chafing (short to ground), or loose/corroded connector pins (open circuit).

   Verify that the potentiometer is receiving the standard 5V reference signal from the controller. If the reference voltage is present but the signal return is abnormally low or zero when the lever is moved, the potentiometer has failed.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Armrest Internals

   Remove the retaining screws on the side/bottom of the right-hand armrest console and carefully lift the top cover to expose the EHR control modules.

   Disconnect the Lever

   Locate the EHR 1 lever assembly (usually the first lever from left to right, corresponding to remote valve 1). Unplug the electrical connector from the lever's potentiometer.

   Remove the Faulty Component

   Remove the mounting screws holding the EHR 1 lever/switch assembly in place and extract it from the armrest housing. (Note: On some older or specific models, the entire EHR control block may need to be replaced as a single unit if individual levers are not serviceable).

   Install the New Part

   Seat the new EHR lever or potentiometer into the armrest, secure it with the mounting screws, and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Reassembly

   Carefully reinstall the armrest cover, ensuring no wires are pinched in the process. Reconnect the battery.

   Mandatory Calibration

   Turn the key on and enter the tractor's calibration menu via the display monitor. Perform the armrest and EHR lever calibration procedure to allow the Armrest Module to learn the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum voltage limits.
