ARMRE 18043

New Holland ARMRE 18043 – Armrest Controller: EHR 2 lever position - voltage too high

Issue description

The signal voltage coming from the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #2 control lever has exceeded the maximum expected threshold (typically >4.5V on a 5V reference circuit). This usually points to an internal failure of the lever's sensor, an open ground wire, or a short-to-power in the armrest wiring harness.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6
  • New Holland T7
  • New Holland T8
  • New Holland T9
  • New Holland T6000
  • New Holland TG

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the physical condition of the EHR 2 lever to ensure it moves smoothly into the extend, retract, and float positions and springs back to neutral properly.

  2. Attempt an Armrest/EHR calibration through the tractor's display (IntelliView or A-post monitor) to see if the sensor has drifted out of range and can be relearned.

  3. Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness connected to the EHR 2 lever for pinched wires, loose connector pins, or an open ground circuit.

  4. Perform a swap test by exchanging the electrical connector of the EHR 2 lever with an adjacent lever (such as EHR 3). If the fault code changes to the corresponding EHR 3 code, the lever is internally defective. If the fault code remains 18043, the issue is in the armrest wiring harness or the Armrest Controller.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect power

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Remove armrest cover

Remove the retaining screws for the armrest top cover/console panel to access the underside of the EHR control modules.

  3. Unplug EHR 2 lever

Locate the EHR 2 lever block and carefully unplug its electrical harness connector.

  4. Remove faulty lever

Remove the mounting screws or retaining clips holding the faulty EHR lever assembly to the armrest frame.

  5. Install replacement lever

Remove the old lever and drop the replacement lever into place.

  6. Secure and reconnect

Secure the mounting hardware and plug the electrical connector back in.

  7. Reassemble and reconnect battery

Reassemble the armrest covers and reconnect the battery.

  8. Perform calibration

Turn the ignition on. You must perform an Armrest / EHR Lever Calibration via the tractor's display system to teach the Armrest Controller the specific neutral, extend, and retract voltage values of the new potentiometer.
