New Holland ARMRE 18045 – Armrest Module (ARU / ARMRE): EHR 3 lever position - voltage too high
Issue description
The controller is receiving a signal voltage from the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #3 control lever that exceeds the normal operating range (typically above 4.5V - 4.8V). This condition is almost always caused by an internal failure of the lever's potentiometer, a short to a power source (5V or 12V) in the signal wire, or an open ground circuit on the lever's sensor loop.

Check the cause
Remove the armrest cover and visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the EHR 3 lever for pinched wires, chafing, or loose pins at the connector.
Disconnect the EHR 3 lever and use a multimeter to verify that the connector is receiving a steady 5V reference signal and a solid ground from the Armrest controller.
Swap the electrical connector of the EHR 3 lever with an adjacent, known-good lever (such as EHR 1 or EHR 2). If the fault code changes to the new position, the lever's internal potentiometer has failed. If the fault code remains as EHR 3, the issue lies within the armrest wiring harness or the Armrest controller itself.
Repair steps
Turn off tractor key and disconnect battery ground cable
This prevents electrical spikes during the repair.
Remove retaining screws on the armrest console
Lift the control pod cover to access the EHR lever assembly.
Disconnect electrical connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty EHR 3 lever.
Remove mounting hardware
Remove the mounting hardware/screws securing the EHR 3 lever to the armrest pod and pull the lever out.
Install new EHR lever
Seat the new replacement EHR lever into the pod and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reconnect electrical connector and reassemble
Reconnect the electrical connector and reassemble the armrest console.
Reconnect battery
Reconnect the battery ground cable.
Perform EHR lever calibration
Turn the key on and perform an EHR lever calibration via the IntelliView display or the tractor's H-menu (Calibration mode). The Armrest controller needs to learn the new lever's specific voltage values for the neutral, full-extend, and full-retract positions.
