New Holland ARMRE 18046 – Armrest Controller Module: EHR float control switch error
Issue description
Malfunction, out-of-range voltage, or resistance failure in the float control switch/potentiometer located on one of the EHR control levers on the tractor's armrest.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- T7 Series (T7.170, T7.185, T7.220, T7.235, T7.250, T7.260, T7.270)
- T8 Series (T8.xxx)
- T9 Series
- T7000 Series
Check the cause
Check the lever potentiometer resistance: Disconnect the EHR control unit connector. While operating the EHR lever from 'extend' to 'float', measure resistance (Pin 6 to Pin 1 should be 100-900 Ohms; Pin 6 to Pin 2 should be 900-100 Ohms).
Check for +5 Volts reference: Turn keystart ON. Measure voltage between Pin 1 and Pin 2 on the harness side (should be approximately +5 Volts).
Check for open circuits or shorts: Turn keystart OFF. Check continuity between the EHR connector and the main Armrest module connectors. Check Pin 1 for any short to ground.
Repair steps
Attempt Calibration
Enter the tractor's H-Menu (H9 / Channel 55) via the instrument cluster and perform the EHR lever calibration procedure.
Software Update
If the EHR lever calibrates but the error code immediately returns, connect the Electronic Service Tool (CNH EST) to download/flash the correct level of software to the Armrest module, then repeat the calibration procedure.
Replace the Component
If the fault occurs again after calibration and software updates, or if the potentiometer failed the resistance bench-test in the diagnostic phase, remove the armrest trim and replace the faulty EHR control lever assembly.
Final Calibration
After installing the new lever, you must run the EHR lever calibration procedure again so the Armrest module learns the new potentiometer's exact voltage limits for the float detent.
