ARMRE 18047

New Holland ARMRE 18047 – Armrest Controller: EHR 4 lever position - voltage too low

Issue description

The voltage signal coming from the potentiometer inside the Electronic Hydraulic Remote (EHR) valve #4 control lever has dropped below the acceptable minimum threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to ground in the wiring, a disconnected harness, or a complete internal failure of the lever's potentiometer.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T7 Series (T7.220, T7.235, T7.250, T7.260, T7.270 AutoCommand and Power Command)
  • New Holland T6000 Series (T6010, T6020, T6030, T6040, T6050, T6060, T6070)
  • New Holland T8 Series
  • New Holland T9 Series

Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness and PCB (Printed Circuit Board) connectors routing to the EHR 4 lever. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose connector pins.

  2. Voltage & Ground Testing: Using a multimeter, verify that the EHR lever is receiving its 5V reference signal and has a solid sensor ground.

  3. Signal Wire Check: Test the signal wire from the EHR 4 potentiometer back to the Armrest Controller for continuity and ensure it is not shorted to ground.

  4. Swap Test: If the wiring is intact, you can temporarily swap the electrical connector from EHR lever 4 to an adjacent lever (like EHR 3). If the fault code follows the lever (e.g., changes to ARMRE 18045/18046 for lever 3), the lever itself is internally faulty.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes to the Armrest Controller.

  2. Disassemble Armrest

Remove the retaining screws on the armrest console cover to access the internal EHR lever blocks and PCB harness.

  3. Remove Faulty Lever

Disconnect the electrical connector for EHR lever 4. Unbolt the lever block from the armrest housing.

  4. Install New Lever

Seat the new EHR lever assembly into position, secure the mounting hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.

  5. Reassemble

    Reinstall the armrest console cover.

  6. Calibration

Reconnect the battery and power on the tractor. You must perform the EHR Lever Calibration procedure via the tractor's display/diagnostic menu. This process teaches the Armrest Controller the new potentiometer's minimum, maximum, float, and neutral voltage values. (Failure to calibrate will result in an "EHR Lever 4 not calibrated" error code, such as R4).
