New Holland ARMRE 18048 – Armrest Module (ARU - Arm Rest Unit): EHR 4 lever position - voltage too high
Issue description
The signal voltage coming from the internal potentiometer of the 4th remote valve control lever on the armrest is exceeding the maximum allowable limit. This typically points to a short to power on the signal wire, an open ground circuit, or a complete internal failure of the lever's potentiometer.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- T6 Series
- T7 Series
- T8 Series
- T9 Series
Check the cause
Remove the armrest cover and visually inspect the wiring harness and connector at the EHR 4 lever for corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafed wires.
Test the ground circuit to the lever (an open ground will cause the signal voltage to default high).
Test the signal wire for a short to a 12V or 5V power source.
Use the tractor's onboard H-Menu diagnostic system (H9 menu) or the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor the live voltage of the EHR 4 lever. If the voltage reads high and does not change smoothly when physically moving the lever, the internal potentiometer has failed.
Repair steps
Power down and disconnect battery
Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Disassemble armrest console
Disassemble the right-hand armrest control console to access the underside of the remote valve control levers.
Disconnect electrical connector
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty EHR 4 lever.
Remove retaining screws
Remove the retaining screws securing the EHR 4 lever assembly to the armrest housing.
Install replacement lever
Install the replacement control lever and secure it with the screws.
Reconnect and reassemble
Reconnect the electrical connector and reassemble the armrest console.
Perform lever calibration
Perform a lever calibration through the A-post instrument cluster display or the CNH EST software. This allows the Armrest Module to learn the new minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage positions of the new lever. The remotes will not function correctly until this calibration is completed.
