ARMRE 18059

New Holland ARMRE 18059 – ACM (Armrest Controller Module) / ARU (Arm Rest Module): Joystick 2 proportional rocker switch - voltage too low

Issue description

The controller is seeing a voltage signal from the Joystick 2 rocker switch that has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold (typically indicating a short to ground, an open circuit, or a configuration mismatch where the module expects a signal from a switch that isn't physically installed).

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6 Series (T6010, T6020, T6030, T6040, T6050, T6060, T6070)
  • New Holland T7 Series (T7.220, T7.235, T7.250, T7.260, T7.270)
  • New Holland T8 Series (T8.xxx)
  • New Holland T9 Series

Check the cause

  1. Verify ACM Configuration: Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) and navigate to the ACM configuration settings to ensure Joystick 2 is correctly configured for the tractor's actual build (addresses configuration mismatch cause).

  2. Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the wiring harness connecting Joystick 2 to the ACM for pinched wires, chafing, or a short to ground (0V) that would pull the signal voltage too low (addresses wiring fault cause).

  3. Test the Switch: Back-probe the proportional rocker switch on Joystick 2 to verify it is receiving its 5V reference and has a good ground, and monitor the signal wire while actuating the rocker switch to see if the voltage sweeps smoothly or drops out completely (addresses component failure cause).

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

Hook up the CNH EST laptop to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Check/Flash Configuration

Go to the Advanced Configuration for the ACM. Check the parameters for 'Joystick 2 proportional rocker switch'. If the setting does not match the physical equipment in the cab, correct the configuration and save it. Cycle the key and see if the code clears.

  3. Repair Wiring

If the configuration is correct but the voltage is still low, trace the signal wire from the joystick base to the ACM. Repair any broken or shorted wires.

  4. Replace the Joystick

If the wiring is intact and the 5V reference/ground are present, the internal potentiometer/sensor of the proportional rocker switch has failed. Replace the joystick assembly.

  5. Calibrate

After installing a new joystick, use the EST or the tractor's H-Menu (Switch & Sensor Test Functions) to calibrate the new joystick's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.
