ARMRE 18063

New Holland ARMRE 18063 – Armrest Control Module (ACM): EEPROM fault

Issue description

The internal non-volatile memory chip inside the control module has failed, corrupted its data, or encountered a read/write error. This memory is responsible for storing the module's configuration, calibration data, and operational parameters.

Applies to these machines

Check the cause

  1. Cycle the ignition off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on to see if the transient fault clears

  2. Verify battery voltage and check the B+ wires supplying power to the Armrest Control Module, as low voltage can cause memory read/write errors

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and multi-pin connectors (e.g., 17-pin connectors) at the ACM for corrosion, backed-out pins, or loose connections

  4. Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check module communication, and attempt to reload the configuration or re-flash the module software

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect the tractor's battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during replacement.

  2. Remove trim panels and covers

Remove the necessary trim panels and covers on the operator's seat armrest to access the internal electronics.

  3. Disconnect wiring harness connectors

Carefully disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the Armrest Control Module.

  4. Remove the faulty ACM

Unbolt the retaining hardware and remove the faulty ACM from the armrest assembly.

  5. Install the new or remanufactured ACM

Install the new or remanufactured Armrest Control Module and secure it with the retaining hardware.

  6. Reconnect wiring harness connectors

Reconnect the wiring harness connectors, ensuring they are fully seated and locked.

  7. Reassemble armrest covers and trim panels

Reassemble the armrest covers and trim panels.

  8. Reconnect the tractor's battery

    Reconnect the tractor's battery.

  9. Program and calibrate the new ACM

Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port. You must program the new ACM with the correct tractor configuration and perform all necessary calibrations (such as EHR levers, multifunction handle, and hitch calibrations) before the tractor will operate correctly.
