ARMRE 39

New Holland ARMRE 39 – Armrest Controller: Aux 2nd remote valve LEVER potentiometer is failed

Issue description

The sensor (potentiometer) responsible for reading the physical position of the 2nd auxiliary hydraulic remote control lever in the cab is sending an erratic, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal.

Applies to these machines

  • T7.220
  • T7.235
  • T7.250
  • T7.260
  • T7.270
  • T8010
  • T8020
  • T8030
  • T8040
  • T9030
  • T9000
  • TG210
  • TG215
  • TG230
  • TG245
  • TG255
  • TG285

Check the cause

  1. Attempt to recalibrate the levers through the 'Aux Lever' menu in the A-post instrument cluster/display to see if the potentiometer has simply drifted out of its learned voltage range.

  2. Inspect the armrest controller circuit board for static damage, specifically checking if the filter caps on the inputs to the 4053 ICs have shorted out.

  3. On older models (like the TG series), check the CAN bus active terminators located behind the back cab cover and in the engine bay for broken solder joints where the pins from the plug solder to the board.

Repair steps

  1. Determine replacement need

If the A-post calibration does not fix the issue, the lever assembly or the potentiometer on the 2nd remote must be replaced.

  2. Power down and disconnect battery

Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  3. Open armrest console

Remove the retaining screws to open the armrest control console and access the remote valve lever assemblies.

  4. Locate assembly

Locate the specific assembly for the 2nd auxiliary remote lever.

  5. Disconnect wiring

Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connected to the 2nd remote lever potentiometer.

  6. Remove hardware

Remove the mounting hardware holding the lever assembly or potentiometer in place.

  7. Install new part

Install the new potentiometer or complete lever assembly and secure the hardware.

  8. Reassemble console

Reconnect the wiring harness and reassemble the armrest console.

  9. Calibrate new part

Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and navigate to the 'Aux Lever' menu in the A-post display to calibrate the new potentiometer. This step is mandatory so the controller can learn the new sensor's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.
