New Holland ARMRE 49 – Armrest Controller: Aux 3rd remote valve LEVER potentiometer is failed.

The potentiometer responsible for sensing the physical position of the 3rd auxiliary remote valve control lever (located on the operator's armrest) has failed. The sensor is sending an out-of-range signal (voltage too high or too low) to the controller, indicating an open circuit, a short circuit, or an internal mechanical failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the 3rd remote valve lever on the armrest and the Armrest Controller. Look for pinched wires, corrosion, or loose pins that could cause an open/short circuit.

   Use a multimeter to test the potentiometer's output. If the voltage is completely dead or spiked out of range, the potentiometer is internally faulty.

   Attempt lever re-synchronization/calibration. With the engine stopped and implements lowered, turn the key to the ON position. Depress the timer switch on the 3rd remote valve. If the system enters calibration mode, move the lever to the maximum extend detent and operate the valve timer switch 3 times in quick succession to attempt a re-sync. If calibration fails or the code immediately returns, the potentiometer must be replaced.

   Safety Prep

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground to relieve pressure, turn off the engine, and remove the key.

   Access the Armrest Console

   Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the cover panels on the armrest console to expose the remote valve control levers and their electronic bases.

   Disconnect the Sensor

   Locate the 3rd remote valve lever assembly. Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the faulty potentiometer.

   Remove the Potentiometer

   Unscrew or unclip the failed potentiometer from the side of the lever assembly.

   Install the New Part

   Mount the replacement potentiometer onto the lever assembly, ensuring the mechanical linkage/tab aligns correctly with the lever's pivot point. Secure it with the retaining screws.

   Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new potentiometer and reinstall the armrest console covers.

   Calibrate the New Sensor

   Perform the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) Valve Lever Calibration procedure (via the tractor's diagnostic menu or using the timer switch method) so the Armrest Controller learns the new potentiometer's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.
