New Holland ARMRE 8011 – ARM (Armrest Controller): Battery Voltage is too Low
Issue description
Triggered when the controller detects that the system power supply voltage has dropped below 9.8 Volts. This prevents the controller from reliably operating its 5-volt reference sensor networks and communicating with other systems.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- TG210
- TG230
- TG255
- TG285
- T8010
- T8050
- T8.xxx Series
- T7000 Series
Check the cause
Check for concurrent low-voltage codes across different modules (e.g., TRANS 8011, AUX 8011, HITCH 8001, PTO 10033) to determine if the issue is system-wide or isolated to the ARM.
Test battery voltage at the terminals using a multimeter (should be ~12.6V resting, and 13.5V-14.5V running).
Test system voltage directly at the Armrest Controller harness connector (e.g., cavity 1 of connector C057) to verify power and ground.
Repair steps
Inspect and Clean Battery Terminals
Corroded, loose, or damaged battery terminals are the most common cause of voltage drops. Clean the posts and tighten the clamps.
Load-Test the Battery
If the battery drops below 9.8V under load or during cold starts, replace the battery.
Verify Alternator Output
Start the tractor and test the alternator regulator output. If it is failing to charge the system, repair or replace the alternator.
Inspect the Wiring Harness
Trace the power supply and ground wires from the battery/power distribution box to the Armrest Controller. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or corrosion inside the connector pins.
Clean Controller Grounds
Ensure the Armrest Controller is properly grounded to the chassis. Remove the ground bolt, wire-brush the terminal and chassis contact point, and reinstall.
Replace the Armrest Controller
If the battery, alternator, wiring harness, and grounds all test perfectly (meaning the controller is receiving a full 12+ volts), but the ARM 8011 code persists, the Armrest Controller has suffered an internal failure (such as a burnt internal voltage regulator) and must be replaced.
