New Holland ARMRE 99 – Armrest Controller: Aux 2nd remote valve FLOW potentiometer is failed
Issue description
The signal voltage from the rotary dial (potentiometer) that controls the hydraulic flow rate for the 2nd auxiliary remote valve is out of its expected operating range (either failed open, shorted, or reading an implausible voltage).
Applies to these machines
8 machines- TG210
- TG230
- TG255
- TG285
- T8020
- TJ450
- TJ480
- T9000 Series
Check the cause
Verify if only the 2nd remote flow potentiometer is failing, or if multiple armrest controls are throwing codes (multiple failures may indicate a failed internal 5V regulator or bad ground).
Inspect the main connector (e.g., C137) to the armrest controller to ensure it is fully seated, and check data bus, power, and ground wires for continuity.
Test the specific potentiometer with a multimeter (should test at roughly 2.7k ohms from center pin to either outside pin with smooth resistance transition; an 'open' reading confirms failure).
Inspect the armrest housing for physical damage, such as incorrect hardware (long screws) piercing the circuit board.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the sensitive CAN-bus modules.
Disassemble the Armrest Console
Remove the retaining screws holding the armrest cover in place to expose the Armrest Controller board.
Isolate the Component
Locate the specific potentiometer for the 2nd auxiliary remote flow control.
Component-Level Repair (Optional/Advanced)
Because the potentiometers are soldered directly to the circuit board, a skilled technician can desolder the failed 2.7k ohm potentiometer and solder a replacement onto the board.
Module Replacement (Standard Dealer Procedure)
If the board is damaged or component-level repair is not possible, remove the entire Armrest Controller / Joystick Controller assembly and install the replacement module.
Reassembly
Carefully reinstall the armrest cover, ensuring no screws pinch the wiring harness or contact the new circuit board.
Software Calibration
Reconnect the battery. Hook up the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST). You must capture the new controller, download/flash the correct tractor software into the new module, and perform the Armrest Controller Calibration procedure so the tractor recognizes the new potentiometer sweep values.
