New Holland ATC 111 – ATC (Automatic Temperature Controller): Cab sensor open or shorted to power

This code indicates a circuit malfunction regarding the interior cabin temperature sensor. The system has detected that the circuit is either completely open (a broken wire, disconnected plug, or internally failed sensor) or the sensor's signal wire has shorted to a voltage source. This prevents the climate control system from accurately reading the interior temperature.

   Extreme Cold Weather Check: If the actual cab temperature drops below -19°C (-2°F), the system may trigger this code falsely. Adjust the temperature control above 23°C (74°F) to see if the code clears after warming up.

   Visual Inspection: Locate the cab temperature sensor (typically mounted in the headliner, b-pillar, or near the HVAC return air duct) and inspect the wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or disconnected plugs.

   Connector Check: Unplug the sensor and inspect the pins for corrosion, bent terminals, or moisture intrusion.

   Circuit Testing (Sensor): Use a multimeter to test the sensor for resistance. An 'OL' (Open Loop) reading indicates the sensor has failed internally.

   Circuit Testing (Harness): Test the harness side with the key ON to ensure the signal wire is not receiving 12V battery power, which would indicate a short to power.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery ground to protect the ATC module during electrical repairs.

   Remove the necessary interior trim panels or headliner sections to access the cab temperature sensor mounting location.

   Plug the wiring harness into the new OEM cab temperature sensor and snap it back into its mounting location.

   Reinstall all cab trim panels. Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition ON and cycle the ATC control switch off and then back on. The digital temperature display should reappear, and the ATC 111 fault code should clear automatically.
