Issue description
This code indicates that the Air Conditioning (A/C) high-pressure safety switch has tripped (opened and closed) twice within a 60-second window. The system logs this error and shuts down the A/C compressor clutch to protect the compressor from catastrophic failure due to excessive refrigerant pressure.

Check the cause
Inspect the A/C condenser for blockages caused by dirt, dust, crop chaff, or mud (most common cause of high A/C pressure).
Verify that the engine cooling fan (or dedicated condenser fan) is operating correctly to pull air through the condenser.
Check refrigerant charge level with an A/C manifold gauge set to ensure the system is not overcharged or contaminated with non-condensable gases.
Test the high-pressure switch to see if it opens at a lower, normal operating pressure (indicating a faulty switch).
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the high-pressure switch for damage, corrosion, or intermittent shorts to ground/power.
Repair steps
Clean the Condenser
Thoroughly blow out the A/C condenser and radiator fins with compressed air, or wash them out with water to restore proper airflow.
Recover Refrigerant
If the switch is determined to be faulty or the system is overcharged, use an approved A/C recovery machine to evacuate the refrigerant. (Note: Some CNH systems feature a Schrader valve beneath the pressure switch, allowing you to unscrew the switch without discharging the system. Check your specific model's service manual before loosening the switch).
Replace the Switch
Disconnect the electrical pigtail from the high-pressure switch. Unscrew the faulty switch from the A/C high-side line. Thread the new switch into place and tighten to OEM specification.
Evacuate and Recharge
If the system was discharged, pull a vacuum on the system to remove moisture, then recharge it with the exact OEM-specified weight of R134a refrigerant.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the electrical harness. Clear the ATC 129 fault code from the Automatic Temperature Controller via the cab monitor, and run the tractor's A/C to verify that the compressor engages and stays on without short-cycling.
