New Holland ATC 132 – ATC: Low pressure switch (-) input shorted to power

The climate control system has detected an electrical fault where the negative (ground) side of the Air Conditioning (A/C) Low Pressure Switch circuit is receiving unexpected voltage (shorted to a 12V power source).

   Inspect the wiring harness from the A/C Low Pressure Switch back to the ATC module for chafed insulation, melted wires, or pinch points.

   Test for voltage by disconnecting the electrical connector at the A/C Low Pressure Switch and probing the negative (-) pin on the harness side with the key ON (look for 12V).

   Inspect the switch connector for water intrusion, corrosion, or damaged pins that could bridge the positive and negative terminals.

   Test the switch itself for an internal short circuit if the harness tests fine.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental electrical spikes.

   Locate the Switch

   Locate the A/C Low Pressure Switch. It is typically threaded onto the low-pressure side of the A/C refrigerant line (often near the receiver drier or evaporator core).

   Repair Wiring

   If your diagnostic checks revealed 12V on the ground wire, splice and repair the damaged section of the wiring harness using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors.

   Replace the Switch

   Disconnect the electrical pigtail from the switch. Unscrew the faulty low pressure switch (verify if a Schrader valve is beneath the switch to avoid venting refrigerant). Thread the new OEM switch onto the fitting and tighten to specification.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical connector.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use the machine's diagnostic menu or a service tool to clear the ATC 132 fault code.

7. 7

   Test Operation

   Start the machine and engage the A/C to ensure the compressor clutch engages and the system blows cold air.
