Issue description
The engine's emissions management system has detected that the signal voltage from the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) / Urea tank level sensor is exceeding the maximum expected threshold. This typically indicates an electrical issue such as a short circuit to a high-voltage source, a broken ground wire (open circuit) causing the voltage to default high, or an internal failure of the DEF level sensor itself.

Check the cause
Use an OBD-II or OEM diagnostic scanner to confirm the presence of DCU 19101 / P203D and check for accompanying codes (such as P205D for the DEF temperature sensor), which could indicate a shared wiring harness or ground failure.
Inspect the DEF tank level sensor wiring harness and connectors for visible damage, chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.
Use a multimeter to test the sensor's output circuit, checking for continuity between the sensor connector and the DCU, verifying that the sensor ground is intact, and ensuring the signal wire is not shorted to a 12V or 5V power source.
Ensure the DEF tank is not overfilled or contaminated, though this specific code is strictly an electrical circuit fault.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the machine and disconnect the tractor's battery to protect the electronic control systems.
Access the Sensor
Locate the DEF tank. The level sensor is typically integrated into the DEF header unit mounted at the top of the tank.
Repair Wiring
If the multimeter test revealed a short circuit or broken wire in the harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness or connector.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring harness tests perfectly, the internal circuitry of the DEF level sensor has failed. Disconnect the electrical connector and fluid lines from the DEF header.
Install New Part
Remove the mounting bolts/retaining ring securing the DEF level sensor assembly to the tank. Remove the old unit and install the new DEF level sensor assembly, ensuring you use a new gasket/seal to prevent leaks.
Reassemble
Reconnect the fluid lines and the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes
Use a diagnostic scanner to clear the DCU 19101 / P203D fault code from the Dosing Control Unit's memory. Cycle the ignition and run the engine to verify the code does not return.
