DCU 19154

New Holland DCU 19154 – DCU: UREA Pump speed | pump motor unplugged | P208B Reagent-pump not delivering

Issue description

The system has detected that the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) / Urea pump motor is unplugged, disconnected, or has an open circuit. Because the motor is not registering a speed, the reagent pump is failing to deliver fluid to the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system.

Applies to these machines

  • T6 series
  • T6.140
  • T6.150
  • T6.160
  • T7 series
  • T7.220
  • T7.270
  • T8 series
  • T9 series
  • TS6.120
  • C345

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect if the DEF pump is physically plugged in, as a disconnected pump motor is the primary trigger.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and communication lines between the DEF pump and the DCU for broken wires, chafing, or corroded pins in the connectors.

  3. Inspect the DEF tank and lines for frozen fluid, blockages, or debris that could cause the pump to fail or run dry.

Repair steps

  1. Secure the Machine

Turn off the equipment and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

  2. Access the DEF Pump

Locate the DEF pump/dosing module (usually mounted near the DEF tank).

  3. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or unplugged connector between the pump and the DCU, reconnect or repair the wiring harness.

  4. Replace the Pump Module

If the wiring is intact and the pump is securely plugged in but the code remains active, the pump module has suffered an internal failure. Remove the DEF lines and electrical connectors, unbolt the old pump, and install the replacement module.

  5. Programming

Program/calibrate the new DEF pump/dosing module to the vehicle's DCU after installation.

  6. Clear Codes

Use a diagnostic tool or DTC eraser to clear the DCU 19154 / P208B fault code from the system and run a pressure build-up test to verify the repair.
