DCU 19263

New Holland DCU 19263 – DCU: Tank heating Valve | Short circuit to ground | Reagent -tank heating valve -short circuit low

Issue description

The control module has detected abnormally low voltage on the circuit responsible for operating the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / Reagent) tank heating valve. This is typically caused by a wiring short to ground or an internal electrical short within the valve's solenoid.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness between the DCU and the DEF tank heating valve. Look for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched areas that could cause a short to ground.

  2. Verify that the DEF tank coolant hoses are installed correctly. If routed backward, hot coolant can circulate continuously, which overheats the DEF tank and can damage the valve.

  3. Ensure the Coolant Control Valve (CCV) is not leaking or mechanically stuck open. Check if the coolant lines running to the DEF tank are warm when the system should be off.

  4. Disconnect the valve and use a multimeter to check if the short to ground is on the harness side or if the valve solenoid itself is internally shorted.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the equipment, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical and coolant systems.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector at the DEF tank heating valve.

  3. If your multimeter testing proved the valve is internally shorted (or if it is mechanically stuck), proceed with replacing the valve. If the harness is shorted, repair the damaged section of the wiring harness.

  4. To replace the valve, pinch or clamp off the engine coolant lines leading to and from the valve to minimize coolant loss.

  5. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses from the valve.

    Take careful note of the hose orientation (e.g., the line with the red band) so they are not reversed upon reinstallation.

  6. Unbolt the faulty heating valve from its mounting bracket.

  7. Install the new DEF tank heating valve and secure it to the bracket.

  8. Reconnect the coolant hoses in the exact orientation they were removed and tighten the hose clamps.

  9. Reconnect the electrical connector to the new valve.

  10. Remove the hose clamps, top off the engine coolant reservoir to the appropriate level, and reconnect the battery.

  11. Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear the DCU 19263 / P20B3 fault code.

    Run the machine to verify that the code does not return and that the valve operates normally.
