New Holland DCU 19316 – DCU: UREA Temperature in Pump Module out of range
Issue description
The temperature sensor located inside the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid / Urea) pump module is sending an implausible, erratic, or out-of-bounds electrical signal.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Check the wiring harness and the main electrical connector at the DEF pump module for corrosion, pushed-out pins, moisture intrusion, or wire chafing.
Live Data Comparison: Connect a diagnostic scan tool and compare the 'DEF Pump Temperature' reading to the 'DEF Tank Temperature' and 'Ambient Air Temperature'. If the machine is cold but the pump temperature reads an extreme value, the internal sensor has failed.
Check for Leaks: Inspect the pump module for external DEF leaks or severe crystallization, which can seep into the electronics and short the internal temperature sensor.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the equipment, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Pump
Locate the DEF pump module, which is typically mounted on a bracket near the DEF fluid tank.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the pump and the surrounding area. DEF systems are highly sensitive to contamination; dirt must not enter the open lines.
Disconnect Electricals
Unplug the main electrical harness connector from the DEF pump module.
Disconnect Fluid Lines
Carefully disconnect the DEF fluid hoses (suction, pressure, and backflow lines). Have a clean catch-pan ready, as residual DEF fluid will spill.
Remove the Pump
Remove the mounting bolts securing the DEF pump module to its bracket and remove the faulty unit.
Install the New Pump
Mount the new DEF pump module and tighten the hardware.
Reconnect Lines
Reconnect the DEF fluid lines, ensuring the quick-connect fittings 'click' and are fully seated to prevent air leaks.
Reconnect Electricals
Plug the electrical harness back into the module and reconnect the battery.
Programming and Testing
Use a CNH diagnostic tool to clear the DCU 19316 / P2043 fault codes. Program/flash the new Bosch DEF supply module to pair with the vehicle's DCU, then run a DEF system prime and leak test via the diagnostic tool to verify the repair.
