New Holland DCU 19362 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): Battery Voltage (actual value) _Low battery voltage _P0563 Battery voltage evaluation -above upper limit
Issue description
The Dosing Control Unit (DCU) is detecting an abnormal supply voltage (System Voltage High), meaning the voltage supplied to the module has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold (e.g., >16V on a 12V system or >32V on a 24V system). This is most commonly caused by an alternator overcharging or a voltage spike from a jump-start.
Applies to these machines
12 machines- T6 Series
- T7 Series
- T7.220
- T7.235
- T7.250
- T7.260
- T7.270
- T8 Series
- T8.xxx
- W190B Wheel Loaders
- Magnum 235-340 (Series 4)
- Steiger
Check the cause
Test battery and charging system voltage with a multimeter (engine off vs. running). Running voltage >15V (12V system) or >30V (24V system) indicates alternator regulator failure.
Verify if the machine was recently jump-started, which can cause a temporary high-voltage surge.
Inspect the power supply and ground pins at the DCU connector for shorts to power or severe corrosion.
Clear the fault codes and retest. If voltage at the pins is normal but the code returns immediately, the DCU may have internal hardware damage.
Repair steps
Address the Charging System
If the alternator is overcharging, replace the alternator (or the internal voltage regulator, if serviceable).
Replace Damaged Batteries
If the batteries were subjected to prolonged high voltage, check them for swelling or boiled-over acid. Replace them if they fail a load test.
Repair Wiring
Fix any damaged wires or corroded connectors in the DCU power circuit.
Replace the DCU
If the charging system is perfectly healthy but the DCU continues to read an artificially high voltage, the DCU must be replaced. Note: A new DCU requires software installation and flashing by a dealer using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST); it is not plug-and-play.
