New Holland DCU 19532 – DCU: Back flow line clogged | P2063 Reagent - dosing valve - short circuit low
Issue description
This fault indicates a critical failure in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / Urea) dosing system. The system has detected either a physical restriction (clogging) in the DEF backflow (return) line, or an electrical fault—specifically a "short circuit low" (short to ground)—at the reagent dosing valve (DEF injector). When this occurs, the system cannot properly circulate, purge, or inject DEF into the exhaust stream, which will eventually lead to engine derate.

Check the cause
Visually and physically inspect the DEF pressure and backflow (return) lines running from the dosing module back to the DEF tank. Look for kinks, crushed sections, or external damage.
Disconnect the backflow line and check for severe urea crystallization (white buildup) that may be physically blocking the fluid return path.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the DEF dosing valve. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals. Trace the wiring harness back toward the DCU looking for chafed wires causing a short to ground (short circuit low).
Using a multimeter, check the internal resistance of the DEF dosing valve to determine if the short circuit is internal to the component. If the resistance is out of spec or shows continuity to the module housing, the valve is internally shorted.
Repair steps
Relieve System Pressure
Ensure the machine is turned off and the DEF system has completed its automatic purge cycle (wait at least 5-10 minutes after key-off) before opening any lines.
Clear Blockages / Replace Lines
If the backflow line is clogged with crystallized DEF, attempt to flush it with warm distilled water. If the line is kinked, physically damaged, or permanently blocked, remove and replace the DEF backflow line assembly.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If a short to ground was found in the harness, repair the chafed wire using weather-sealed heat shrink connectors, or replace the damaged pigtail connector.
Replace the Dosing Valve
If the dosing valve is internally shorted or its nozzle is permanently clogged, unbolt the dosing module from the exhaust SCR pipe. Clean the mounting flange, install the new dosing valve with a new gasket, and torque to OEM specifications.
Reassemble and Prime
Reconnect all DEF fluid lines and electrical connectors.
Clear Codes and Test
Connect a diagnostic service tool (such as CNH EST) to clear the DCU 19532 / P2063 fault codes. Run a manual DEF dosing test or initiate a stationary regeneration to verify that DEF pressure builds, the valve injects properly, and the backflow line returns fluid to the tank without logging the code again.
