New Holland DCU 19550 – DCU: Pressure line blocked | P209B Reagent - dosing nozzle - pressure too high

Issue description

Restriction or complete blockage in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / AdBlue) delivery system. The system has detected that the pressure at the reagent dosing valve/nozzle is abnormally high, which is typically caused by crystallized DEF (scale build-up) clogging the dosing nozzle, a kinked/blocked DEF pressure line, or debris in the system.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the DEF dosing injector tip and exhaust mixing chamber for scale build-up (crystallized urea)

  2. Check DEF/AdBlue fluid quality using a refractometer (must be exactly 32.5% automotive-grade urea to 67.5% distilled water)

  3. Trace the DEF pressure line from the pump to the dosing nozzle to check for physical damage, kinks, or external pinching

  4. Inspect the small and medium inline DEF filters for dust or debris

Repair steps

  1. Purge the System

    Turn off the ignition and wait for the DEF system to complete its purge cycle (the pump pulls fluid back into the tank to prevent freezing/clogging). Do not disconnect the battery or lines until this is complete.

  2. Remove the Dosing Nozzle

    Disconnect the electrical connector and the DEF pressure line from the dosing injector. Unbolt and remove the injector from the exhaust pipe.

  3. Clean or Replace the Nozzle

    If scale build-up is present, clean the injector tip and the exhaust mixing chamber using warm distilled water (which dissolves crystallized DEF). If the nozzle is internally clogged and cannot be cleared, it must be replaced.

  4. Clear the Pressure Line

    Disconnect the DEF pressure line at both ends. Flush the line with warm distilled water to dissolve any internal blockages. If the line is heavily restricted or damaged, replace it.

  5. Clean the Filters

    Pull and clean the small and medium inline DEF filters. (Note: Some technicians recommend installing a small inline fuel filter on the DEF tank vent tube to prevent field dust from entering the system and causing future blockages).

  6. Address Fluid Quality

    If the DEF concentration tested poorly, drain the DEF tank completely, flush it with distilled water, and refill with fresh, high-quality DEF.

  7. Reassembly and Clearing Codes

    Reinstall the dosing nozzle and reconnect all lines and harnesses. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the DCU 19550 / P209B fault code, then run the machine to verify the system operates without derating.
