   Visually inspect the DEF tank to confirm if it is actually empty (simplest cause).

   If the tank is full but the gauge reads empty, check if the DEF level sensor is stuck, crystallized, or failed electrically.

   Check the wiring harness and the connector at the DEF tank header for corrosion, damage, or loose pins.

   Look for other codes like P203C/P203D (Level sensor short circuit high/low) or P0600 (CAN receive frame errors) which might indicate an electrical or communication failure rather than just a fluid level issue.

   Refill the Tank

   Fill the DEF tank with clean, high-quality, unexpired Diesel Exhaust Fluid (AdBlue).

   Cycle the Key

   Turn the ignition on and wait to see if the DEF gauge registers the new fluid level. If the gauge updates and the code goes inactive, clear the code and return the machine to service.

   Clean/Inspect the Sensor

   If the code persists, remove the DEF header unit from the top of the tank. Inspect the float/sensor tube for heavy DEF crystallization. Clean with warm distilled water if necessary.

   Replace the DEF Header/Sensor

   If cleaning does not restore the sensor's function, the internal level sensor has failed. The DEF level sensor is typically integrated into the DEF tank header unit (which also houses the temperature and quality sensors). Replace the DEF header assembly.

   Use an OEM diagnostic tool (like CNH EST) to clear the DCU 19568 fault code and reset the SCR system.
