Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Check for other active CAN bus errors (such as 19580 or 19581) or Engine ECU faults using a diagnostic scanner (CNH EST). Multiple CAN timeouts usually point to a physical wiring issue.

  2. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the DCU and the Engine Control Unit (ECU) for chafing, breaks, or melted wires near the exhaust system.

  3. Disconnect the DCU and ECU connectors to check for pushed-back pins, bent pins, moisture, or corrosion. Ensure the fit is tight.

  4. Measure the resistance of the CAN High and CAN Low wires between the DCU and ECU to ensure there is no open circuit or short to ground/power.

  5. Verify that the DCU is receiving proper supply voltage and has a solid ground connection. A drop in voltage can cause the module to drop off the CAN network.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during testing.

  2. Access the Modules

    Locate the DCU and the Engine ECU.

  3. Clean and Reseat

    Run the machine to verify if the code returns.

  8. Module Replacement

    If the wiring is 100% verified (good continuity, no shorts, proper power/ground) and the code remains active, the DCU itself likely has an internal CAN transceiver failure and must be replaced.
