DCU 19580

New Holland DCU 19580 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): CAN receive frame E2SCR | too many CAN messages | P0600 Serial Communication Link

Issue description

A severe CAN bus communication error indicating the module is receiving an abnormally high volume of CAN messages on the E2SCR data frame, which floods the network and leads to a serial communication link failure or timeout.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T6 series
  • New Holland T7 series
  • New Holland T7.200
  • New Holland T8 series
  • New Holland T8.320

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Dosing Control Unit (DCU) for chafing, shorts to ground, or shorts to power

  2. Check the connectors at the DCU and ECM for corrosion, moisture intrusion, or pushed/bent pins

  3. Verify the CAN bus terminating resistors are intact (should read 60 ohms across CAN High and CAN Low pins with battery disconnected)

  4. Check the battery voltage and ground connections to the DCU, as low or unstable voltage can cause erratic module behavior

  5. Perform a network scan with a diagnostic tool to see if other modules are reporting P0600 or CAN timeout errors

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect the machine's battery to ensure safety and prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Repair or replace any damaged sections of the CAN wiring harness or connectors identified during the diagnostic checks.

Repair or replace any damaged sections of the CAN wiring harness or connectors identified during the diagnostic checks.

  3. Reconnect the battery and attempt to clear the fault codes using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

Reconnect the battery and attempt to clear the fault codes using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

  4. If the wiring is completely intact and the code returns immediately (or the bus remains flooded), the DCU has suffered an internal hardware failure and is shorting/flooding the CAN network.

If the wiring is completely intact and the code returns immediately (or the bus remains flooded), the DCU has suffered an internal hardware failure and is shorting/flooding the CAN network.

  5. Remove the defective Dosing Control Unit (DeNOx Supply Module) and install the replacement unit.

Remove the defective Dosing Control Unit (DeNOx Supply Module) and install the replacement unit.

  6. Use the CNH EST diagnostic tool to flash the module and pair it with the ECM.

Installing a new DCU requires software installation and calibration. You must use the CNH EST diagnostic tool to flash the module and pair it with the ECM. The system will not function, and CNH will not issue passwords for the software, unless proper troubleshooting has been documented.
