CAN bus communication error (P0600 Serial Communication Link). It indicates that the control module is failing to properly receive the EEC1 (Electronic Engine Controller 1) data frame over the SAE J1939 CAN network. Specifically, the torque driver demand signal being broadcasted is either missing, timing out, or falling outside of the acceptable programmed range.

   Check the Battery and Voltage: Because the battery provides power to the tractor's engine and control modules, CAN communication issues often stem from low or unstable voltage.

   Inspect Terminals: Examine the battery posts and cables to ensure they are completely free of scrap, corrosion, and deposits.

   Check CAN Bus Wiring: Inspect the SAE J1939 CAN bus wiring harness connecting the Engine ECU and the DCU. Look for chafed wires, loose pins, or moisture in the connectors that could interrupt the serial communication link.

   Clean Power Supply

   Disconnect the battery, clean the terminals and cable clamps thoroughly, and reconnect them tightly to ensure a stable power supply to the DCU and ECU.

   Harness Repair

   If diagnostic testing reveals high resistance or a short in the CAN wiring between the engine and the DCU, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring is intact, voltage is correct, and the Engine ECU is successfully broadcasting to other modules, the DCU itself may have suffered an internal failure and will need to be replaced.

   Software Flashing

   If replacing the DCU, the new module must be programmed. Note: CNH requires official troubleshooting to be completed and documented before they will issue the software installation passwords to dealers for a new DCU.
